Civil Partnerships allow same sex couples to enter a legal relationship with each other which has some similarities to a marriage.
They were introduced in England in 2005 and give couples similar legal rights as married couples in a number of areas, including pensions, tax and the ability to gain parental responsibility for a child.
Our experienced family solicitors can help you with any area relating to civil partnerships, including:
- Pre partnership agreements – similar to prenuptial agreements for married couples. These enable you to set out how property will be divided in the event of a relationship breakdown.
- Dissolution of a civil partnership – we can help you through the Court process of ending a civil partnership by one of the following two methods.
- Separation orders – when a partnership has lasted less than 12 months.
- Dissolution orders – similar in some ways to a divorce in that it cannot be made within the first 12 months of a civil partnership.
